“We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented," says Christof, the creator of the Truman Show. Truman Burbank is in a controlled world that he can't get hurt, and everyone is watching him, nothing on the show is fake, no scripts, however everyone is in on it. Many may object that this show could be a reality, never the less with all the technology and money put in to a show/reality such as the Truman Show it could be possible to keep a man in a controlled environment from birth without him knowing. They can give someone a good life and do with them what they wish, but they will never truley experience reality.
Todays technology could produce a world in which every person can control ones environment, and create a show that the whole world is engaged in. The Truman Show takes place in a huge dome, everyone knows it's not a real place except for Truman. It is realistic that they could make a huge dome like this, it's almost like a huge football dome but it has a island inside. They have a nieghborhood with houses, streets, stores, schools, just like any town. There is a fake moon and sun that goes up and down depending what time of day. There is a beach with water that looks like the ocean, when Truman tries to escape he comes to the end of the dome and it just stops, it looks like the sky keeps going, but it is just a wall that looks like the sky. Having all of this would cost a ton of money, luckily the Truman show made enough money to support a small country to make its expenses possible. In addition to the city there are over 5000 cameras set up in the whole island. In a normal town there are cameras to watch crime, so that is realistic. Also many actors have button cam's which is also very probable, other TV shows use these all the time. With a good crew they could easily monitor the cameras to make the viewing of the show interesting, as they do in the Truman Show. With the latest technology and a talented staff, the Truman Show is very realistic.
The actors would be a difficult variable to keep Truman unaware that he is being watched, although it is the key to the sucess of the show. There are so many actors throughout the story, it would be difficult to keep tabs on all of them. Some may not do what they are supposed to like Sylvia, and ruin the show. To the shows advantage they can alter anything they want, and like in the movie; drag Sylvia away to "Fiji". Other actors also messed up through the story, leading Truman to discover he was being watched. Truman's interaction with the Police officer ended in the officer calling him by his first name. In reality there was no possible way that the officer would know him by his first name, since Truman had never seen him before. Truman also went into a building that he usually never goes in to, and discovered a set behind the elevator, the actors immediately rushed him out of the building. Everyone had a specific time and place they had to be every single day, Truman picked up on this. He discovered when certain people would go by his house and he could time it exactly. Truman and his wife got in a tussle one night, when he was questioning her about how everyone was following him. When he had her in a head lock, she screamed for help, when in reality no one would have been there. All of these things added up to Truman realizing that this world was not like the rest of the world. This would be the most difficult part in producing this show, keeping the actors loyal to the purpose of the show. Overtime this is all Truman is used to, but judged by society he still figured out that it was just not normal.
The Truman show is a great idea, however is it humane? Some views would say that it is not right to take a child at birth and keep them locked up from the real world. In the film they say they couldn't keep Truman here forever, he can leave whenever he wants. Even though Christof made it very difficult for him to leave and at times physically painful. Christof and some other upper echelon members on staff, would oppose that it isn't right. They took this baby and put him in a world with no danger, no struggles, just a great life with great friends. The audience became so attached to Truman because they got to see him grow up from birth. It was like there own child, and they watched him say his first words, take his first steps, go to school, and just many things parents love to watch their child do. Christof felt like he was doing this child a favor, but is that what Truman thought? People want to explore and make their own choices, it's those things in life that make it so fulfilling. Truman, on the other hand couldn't have these experiences of a real life without people controlling the major out come. He couldn't even choose the real girl he wanted to marry, he wasn't allowed to go to "Fiji" to see her, they ultimately took away what he thought was his father by killing him in a ship wreck. These things are not fair to a human being. The set up of the show is all very real, with enough money, anything is possible, but it doesn't make it right.
Truman only knew of what he was brought up with, his life was created into a great show that was very enjoyable to watch. Overtime he caught on, it is too difficult to keep all the actors on the same page to not give it all away. The set, the dome, the houses, the cameras are all very possible with all the technology and money put into it. These factors all held true for a very long time and created a great viewing. The show went as long as it could and was very successful, and there is no doubt about that. However, the question that lingers is it is humane to do such a thing to a human being. Giving them up the right to a life like everyone else. It may be a better life, or it may be worse. How would you feel if everyone was watching every move you made? To know your life was made up by a TV show, is that how anyone would want to live?

Teenage gambling, exciting for some but could be becoming a problem…
PETER (sitting at black jack table)
There is a thrill of winning that you don't get every day. When that dealer flips you a black jack, there is no feeling that compares.
MAX
Peter is now 19 and has been coming to the casino for over a year now. Along with plenty of other teenagers of age in Minnesota, these kids maybe don’t know when to stop.
FRANK (Standing by ATM)
I feel like I want to put in more, so I can win back what I lost
MAX (stand up sitting at a slot machine)
For most teenage gamblers they like to go because of the chance to win money. What many may not know is the Casino has the better odds. Like here at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake Minnesota, they created this huge gaming experience from a small profitable casino “Little Six” just across the street. Some young Gamblers however, may have the right idea…
Sounds of dealers voices
TY (at the buffet)
You know, it really didn't bother me that much. I only lost the money that I had won before and it didn't force me to quit. I went in there knowing I could lose this money, but the chance of winning makes me just want to bet bet bet!
MAX
Well maybe they still want to bet a lot of money. Young men like Ty here however knows the limit they want to spend. While Peter on the other hand may be in a bit of trouble, when asking him about how he feels when he has lost all his cash…
PETER
At first you know it is a little disappointing. I know I shouldn't bring my credit card, but I usually will go to the ATM and take out some more money.
MAX
Hopefully these youngsters find out soon that there are better ways to make money, but in the mean time they sure have been having a lot of fun. NBC news this is Max Smith

Frank Veldman
1. You have just recently turned 18, what did you think about gambling before you were of age?
Well, I have heard a lot of negatives on it. You are expected to lose money because the casino sets it up in thier favor. Put there is always a chance where a rare person could win the jackpot. I would think it'd be fun, but you have to know your limit.
2. How do you feel when you are losing money?
I feel like I want to put in more, so I can win bak what I lost
3. How do you picture yourself this summer with going to the casino?
Big ballin, throwin hundereds. You know I ll go man, depends how much money I have, but if my friends are going, ill probably go.
